Soggy start – Southern schools battle in rugby event

The Southern Zone Secondary School Rugby competition continued on the weekend at Bidesi Ground and the Suva Grammar School grounds in Suva.
Students braved the soggy grounds and blazing sun to claim glory for their respective schools where the best in secondary schools rugby was on display.
In the matches played, Ratu Sukuna Memorial School pipped Marist Brothers High School 10-8 in the under-14 grade.
In the U15 grade, Suva Grammar School thrashed Ratu Sukuna Memorial School 14-0 while Marist Brothers High School proved too strong for Nasinu Secondary School beating them 17-0.
In the under-16 grade, MBHS beat Lami High School 11-0.
In the U17 grade, SGS made a gutsy comeback but fell short to MBHS 15-12 while Nasinu Secondary School out muscled Ratu Sukuna Memorial School 22-5.
In the U18 grade, Nasinu Secondary School beat Lomary Secondary School 5-0, Dudley High School proved too strong for William Cross High School beating them 30-0, Gospel High School had a close tussle with Nabua Secondary School winning by 15-7, SGS drew with Nasinu Secondary School 9-all, while MBHS demolished the efforts of Assemblies of God High School by 31-0.
In the U19 grade, MBHS won by default (WBD) over Naitasiri High School and John Wesley College drew 6-all against Nasinu Secondary School.
The Southern Zone competition continues this Saturday at the Suva Grammar School grounds.
