The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has a policy on “no gossip”, according to the ministry’s 2018-2019 annual report that was tabled in Parliament last Friday.
The “no gossip” policy is one of 10 policies the ministry has as part of its internal human resources (HR) policies, states the annual report.
“The human resources unit has formulated a number of internal HR policies which will guide the administrative processes and procedures relating to staffing matters,” states the report.
The HR policies listed in the report are leave, staff internal rewards, laptop and mobile, grievance, recruitment and selection, training, no gossip, no smoking in workplace, overtime and meal policy and risk management.
The ministry employed 107 staff members in the 2018-2019 financial year, of which 105 were on contracts and two staff members on permanency. A total of 54 posts were vacant by the end of July 2019.
“From the 107 staff employed, 48 were men staff and 59 were women. The ministry employed more female (55 per cent) than male (45 per cent) during this period.”
