Complaints against fake profiles

Facebook reviews each and every complaint made against fake profiles, said Roy Tan, the head of politics and government outreach of Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
During the recent “Ready to Run” Campaign Training for Women Election Candidates held in Suva, he said they had a team that specifically looks after the Pacific. Organised by Dialogue Fiji, participants at the workshop included new prospective candidates who intended to contest in the 2022 General Election.
“They do review content, every single day so basically reporting is very important,” he said.
“If you find things which maybe bullying or harassment inciting violence, any of those things just report it. It may not always, uh you know, violate, but you know reporting helps. We do review every single report that comes in.
“No matter how small or how many people are reporting, it can be one report and we will still review it.
“During election, I think the teams are heightened a lot to kind of review some of this content.
“We also do work with partners on the ground to get more insights into other issues that may happen close to elections and you know it does inform us on how better to kind of monitor the platforms as well.”
